Italy is an avenue where single individuals can fall in love with its picturesque landscapes, historical sites, and exquisite food. For the past several years, the online dating scene in the country has become prevalent for most individuals who seek potential partners. Here are two of the most well-known online dating applications which single men and women can utilize to search for their preference.
Marc Simoncini developed the largest online dating service in Europe, Meetic, in November 2001. According to the consultancy JupiterResearch, Meetic has expanded its reach worldwide with approximately six million subscribers from over 100 countries and $73.9 million in revenues during the first half of 2006. Meetic members can access some available features based on their subscription – free or paid.
Free subscription users can upload their photos, generate five to twenty questionnaires that they may include in their profiles, create a list of their preferred members, rate their matches, receive profile notifications via email, block unwanted members, and use winks to tease. Meanwhile, the paying members have additional perks which include access to the “Similar Profiles” item, no advertisements, hide their profiles from unwanted members, access to chat rooms, instant messaging to other Meetic subscribers, and ability to send private messages to other members in chat rooms.
The price of member subscriptions ranges from €9.99 to €19.99 for six months. However, users should be conscious of fake identities and conflicts which may arise offline.
Eight individuals founded the global platform Lovoo, formerly Kiss2go, on October 27, 2011, to allow its users to match with other people by swiping right or go on to the next person by swiping left. Lovoo is a location-based dating application that offers a feature called the “Live Radar” which displays other users in the area. Signing up for Lovoo and some of its fundamental functions are free, but most of its services require premium membership which includes blocking advertisements, viewing the profiles the user has given a like and favorite, increasing the chances of a chat with more icebreakers, and going through other profile without being noticed.
Moreover, Lovoo limits the number of fake profiles in the application by requiring its members to send a photo of themselves while holding a piece of paper with a unique code. The application grants its users a blue badge that implies that the user is legit.
